Pastoral Team (2007 - 2008)

Aim

We aim to offer pupils a productive, happy and memorable experience in the Sixth Form. As a Perse pupil you will be given the opportunity to excel across the curriculum achieving academic success and enjoying a rich and varied enrichment and extra-curricular programme. Our extensive pastoral team will work closely with pupils to develop their ability and encourage them to explore new challenges in the Sixth Form.

Pastoral Care

Each member of the Sixth Form is allocated to a Tutor Group and the tutor will monitor the academic progress and the general welfare of his or her tutees. Pupils will enjoy tutorial periods every week to discuss their progress and take part in group discussions on a range of pastoral and social issues. The tutor groups are made up of members of the Lower and Upper Sixth Form and they will stay with the same tutor for their two years.

Facilities, Challenges and Excellence

The Perse School prides itself on offering an outstanding selection of Enrichment and extra-curricular activities for pupils to enjoy. The pupils are encouraged to participate in a wide range of musical, sporting and dramatical activities in addition to taking part in the Enrichment Programme which offers opportunities to contribute to: the Combined Cadet Force, Addenbrooke's Hospital, charity work, community art, environmental projects, magazine publishing, organic gardening, teaching, sports coaching, archaeology, cooking, drama, film studies, German, law preparation, music, Portuguese and woodwork.

Curriculum and Results

A Level and Pre U offer you a flexible or specialised approach towards your studies. We will offer every opportunity to allow you to study the subject combinations of your choice. Many pupils study three sciences and maths, arts subjects and languages or a mixture of the two. The curriculum is designed to allow you to focus on your strengths. Every year 25% of the Upper Sixth Form are offered places to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, 10% will study Medicine and the remaining 65% will be offered places at first class universities.
